About Us
Our Practice and Philosophy

In 2019, Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital celebrated its thirtieth anniversary. In 1989 we began to approach and practice veterinary medicine in a more holistic manner, celebrating the bond between our patients and their families, and we strive to support that bond through the best, most current medical, diagnostic, and surgical methods available.

Three core ideas form our working philosophy and our success:

• Ensure excellence in veterinary medicine to celebrate and enhance the human-companion animal bond.

• Provide compassionate care for the animals whose health and lives are entrusted to us.

• Foster teamwork, harmony, and ongoing development of professional and personal skills.

Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital has earned accreditation with the American Animal Hospital
Association (AAHA). The organization’s rigorous requirements mean that less than 20%
of all small veterinary practices receive accreditation. AAHA’s evaluation includes a quality
assessment review of the hospital’s facility, medical equipment, practice methods, and pet
health care management. Hillcrest is the only AAHA hospital in Pleasant Hill, CA.
Born and raised in the South Bay, Dr. Anderson learned to love veterinary medicine at the young age of 13, working at his local veterinary hospital part-time. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, his Masters in Neuroscience, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine all at Washington State University. Following veterinary school, he completed a one-year rotating internship at East Bay Veterinary Specialists and Emergency in Walnut Creek, California, to further his knowledge and skills. Today, Dr. Anderson treats cats, dogs, rabbits and pocket pets.

Dr. Anderson and his family live in Pleasant Hill and have very much enjoyed all the local community has to offer. Dr. Anderson met his wife, Jennifer, also a veterinarian, during graduate school. They now have three daughters and two dogs to keep them busy.

A longtime resident of northern California, Dr. Thibedeau completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Northern Arizona University, and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at University of California at Davis.

In 2015 Dr. Thibedeau sold the practice to Dr. Anderson. After working almost 4 years part time he decided to retire in September 2019. Although he is missed, we are all happy that he is able to spend more time doing the things he loves like gardening and spending time with his family.
Dr. Lamp, a self-admitted military kid, has lived all over Europe and the United States, and the East Bay since 1992. She attended University of California/San Diego and The Ohio State University. Initially, her interests centered on aquatic exotics until she recognized an inherent surgery skill early in her career.

After 16 years as a practice owner, she now concentrates on comprehensive care for cats and dogs in a general practice with additional expertise in pocket pets and rabbits. She especially enjoys the challenges of internal medicine and surgery. Dr. Lamp loves the enduring strength of the family-centered practice a Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital. "The key to Hillcrest is its understanding of how cats and dogs interact with people," she says, "and how modern medicine has helped."

Shawntel Plante, Hillcrest’s Practice Manager, attended CSU East Bay, majoring in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a Minor in Business Administration . She has worked in the veterinary community for over 20 years.
Ms. Plante directs business and finance, human resources, OSHA requirements, client care, and local business outreach.
